John oversees the operation of Dartmouth College’s extensive array of foreign study and student exchange programs. Programs operate in 30+ countries and enroll more than 600 students annually. John joined the office in 2001 and has held the position of Executive Director since 2003. He has extensive experience in the areas of education abroad, international programs management, and crisis response. Earlier in his career, John worked with the Peace Corps in Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, the Republic of Georgia and the Philippines. John received his BS in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University and his Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College.
Manages the fiscal and logistical aspects of Dartmouth's off-campus program offerings. Provides accounting and related administrative guidance to faculty program directors. Develops and monitors program budgets. Computes student room & board charges.
Coordinates and implements the student application and pre-departure orientation processes. Serves as liaison to exchange partner institutions to facilitate the enrollment of incoming and outgoing exchange students. Serves as secretary to the Committee for Off-Campus Activities, a standing committee of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences.
Works closely with students, faculty and parents in the following areas: student application process; the updating and distribution of pre-departure materials; responds to requests for information relating to student visas; answers a wide range of general questions about programs.
