Program Description:

Each fall a maximum of five Dartmouth students attend McGill University in Montreal, Canada, on exchange for the term. Dartmouth students normally take five courses in the McGill Canadian Studies Program. These areas include the French language taught in a Francophone community, as well as courses in anthropology, economics, geography, government, history, literature and culture, and Native American Studies. Of additional importance is the contribution a term at McGill makes toward understanding the sometimes perplexing Canadian-American relationship, as well as providing insight into the conflict between Quebec and English-speaking Canada. Students earn a maximum of four credits.

Applications must be submitted by February 1 of the year before the planned exchange. The same application procedure as for the Twelve College Exchange is in effect. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.0.

Students pay tuition to Dartmouth. Room and board are paid directly to McGill.

Upon completion of the exchange, the exchange coordinator at the host institution will forward the transcript to the Office of the Registrar, Dartmouth College. Future transcripts of exchange program grades must be obtained by the student from the exchange institution.
